Tour Guide Profile: Uthai Treesucon
Uthai is widely known as one of Thailand’s finest birders and is co-credited with the rediscovery of Gurney's Pitta. His gentle nature and exceptional knowledge of Thailand's birds make him an asset on any tour to the region.
Uthai Treesucon is widely known as one of Thailand’s finest birders and, leading his first tour in 1983, he was one of the first specialized bird guides to share the avian riches of Thailand with foreigners. He has an extensive biological background and has a wide interest in the natural wonders of Thailand, extending well beyond the birds of this incredible region. He has a particular passion for Pittas and is credited, along with Phil Round, with the rediscovery of Gurney's Pitta in June 1986 and he has been integral in the conservation of this highly sought after species. Uthai, being an experienced traveler himself, understands the needs of the itinerant birder and has birded more than 30 countries across the globe, augmenting his abilities as an accomplished and informative leader.
"Thank you again for such a wonderful trip to Thailand, and for sharing your expertise. You are a fantastic guide and birder, and I consider myself very lucky to have had the pleasure of your company for three full weeks."
