The Kruger National Park is undoubtedly one of Africa’s most legendary reserves. On this Kruger big game safari we will explore the park both on foot (a truly exhilarating experience!) and in vehicles in our attempt to locate numerous big game, including the legendary “Big 5” - Lion, African Elephant, Leopard, African Buffalo and White Rhinoceros. Other highly sought-after animals we have a chance of finding are Cheetah and African Wild Dog, plus a myriad of antelope species. Some nights we will also head out in open 4x4 vehicles in search of nocturnal mammals, where we may even observe a thrilling hunt!

What our clients say about tours to South Africa
I am motivated by the memory of a fabulous trip to South Africa, to write to you. To say that we were happy with our guide, Jan Pienaar, would be to understate our position. He has a fine and extensive knowledge of all aspects of South African fauna and flora and was always eager to share his knowledge. He always placed our comfort and well being above his own. It was indeed a great pleasure to have made the acquaintance of this young man.

I would like to add my thanks to you, Crystal, and all the other people associated with Rockjumper for making this the best birding tour in which I have participated. David's leadership was superb as our trip bird count shows. I would be happy to go with Rockjumper on future trips. Thanks again for your assistance during the Mega South Africa trip.

Rainer established what each of the participants expected from the tour [Cape to Wiindhoek, South Africa] and then managed to excel expectations without seeming to try to do this. We saw all our favourite birds and animals and even plants. Yes we even enjoyed the wildflowers too! His birding skills, including recognition of calls, were exceptional. His effortless ability to manage logistics and his energy for making it happen, made this tour easy and stress-free; something I'm exceptionally grateful for. His enthusiasm for new finds (not just birds!) was totally contagious and added to the enjoyment. His broad knowledge met all my needs for information about this new continent - and that made this tour particularly satisfying for me.

Just a quick report that we have returned home safely following a great trip to southern Africa. Everything came off as planned and the experiences were everything that we had hoped for. We really enjoyed the bush camps since they provide a remote experience with lots of animals and few other tourists. The selection of camps provided an excellent balance of habitats and wildlife viewing. Additionally, we would like to thank Athol for his excellent leadership during the Eastern South Africa tour. He is a true gentleman and excellent guide and birder.... [A]ll around we were very pleased with the trip. And, thank you and the other staff at Rockjumper for helping to put the trip together.

During Oct 19 to Nov. 6, 2010 I participated in the Eastern South Africa and Western Cape Extension tour. It is the ultimate tour if you are birding for the first time in the African continent. The diversity of birds is over-whelming and unlike birding in the tropical Americas, the birds are easy to see! I personally added 419 lifers! The pace of the tour was ideal. Accommodations were top-notch and the meals wonderful. Keith Valentine is an unsurpassed tour leader. Extremely knowledgeable yet very laid back, approachable and quick to laugh. I have been on many organized bird tours but none come close to the standards set by Rockjumper on this tour. The bar has been raised!
