Brian Finch lives in Kenya and is the country’s premier bird guide. Brian’s expertise also extends to butterflies, dragonflies and herps. Brian’s knowledge of Kenya is unsurpassable and he is the natural choice for our record-breaking Kenya mega tours.
Brian Finch lives in Kenya and is the country’s premier bird guide. After completion of his education in the UK, he immigrated to Australia, later moving to Papua New Guinea. Here he became chairman of the Papua New Guinea Bird Society for five years, whilst editor of their journal for nine. Before leaving the country to return to Kenya he co-authored the region’s field-guide. In Kenya, he has spent much of his time leading bird tours, but his interests also extend to butterflies, dragonflies and reptiles/amphibians. As well as a co-author to the “Birds of East Africa,” he is involved in joint authorship with books on the first two subjects and was honored in the third by having a distinctive Agama named after him. He writes regularly for the regional Natural History Journal, Swara. Following on from his interests in natural history and conservation, he became involved in creating standards for professional guiding in Kenya, and is Chairman of Examination Committee for all professional guiding in the country. When not on safari Brian lives on the outskirts of Nairobi National Park.
