This month’s stunning image was recently captured by Adam Riley on the Mpivie Channel of Gabon’s vast Loango National Park. The shy and highly sought-after White-crested Tiger Heron (Tigriornis leucolopha) is a resident of forested streams of West and Central Africa. Gabon is without a doubt THE location for seeing this relict species.
Besides the greatest remaining rainforest megafauna on the planet, Gabon offers many of Africa’s most challenging species including Vermiculated Fishing Owl, African River Martin and both Rosy and Black-headed Bee-eaters. Rockjumper will again be offering Gabon tours in 2010, our upcoming newsletter will provide more details.
