Overview

The small nation of Costa Rica has geared itself heavily towards avitourism and has developed a superb infrastructure to service the numerous visiting birders, and with over 850 species it is easy to understand why! The backbone of the country is formed by a scenic mountain range, and here the cloud forests are home to numerous exotic species including a conucopia of hummingbirds. A wide variety of habitats that include the montane forests of the volcanic belt and the dry northern Pacific lowlands will be explored on our tour, and we can look forward to many striking hummingbirds, among many other spectacular birds. Thrilling birding, quality lodges and a relaxed pace make this destination perfect for anyone who has yet to experience the exciting avifauna of Central America!

Tour Pace & Walking
Our Family tours are dedicated to the enjoyment and appreciation of specific bird families. Whilst we will certainly not ignore other bird families and species, we will not be going out of our way to find them. These tours are slower paced, allowing for as much time as appropriate to be spent in hides, feeders or similar such sites. There are rarely early starts or late finishes to the day. These tours are suitable for all birding interests and experience levels, avid photographers and in some cases can accommodate those with mobility or health challenges.

comfortable lodges and hotels

Bobby Wilcox was a good guide. Calm and knowledgeable. The food and accommodation were both very good, Better than I expect.

I can say it was a great tour. Forrest and Richard were fantastic leaders. I would bird with them anywhere.

Just wanted to take a moment to thank Rockjumper for a fantastic trip ! Bobby Wilcox and our local guide were the best!! This pair of professionals worked very hard to take care of all of us and make sure each person got to see every bird!! Together we had close to 400 bird species! An outstanding number! We had great Accommodations and good food! We were birding everyday from 5:45am until 6 pm!! Just can’t thank you enough!! And after talking with Bobby Wilcox about the pantanal trip coming up, I’m sure I’m going to go!! Looking forward to future trips with Rockjumper!!!

A fantastic tour as usual, well organised and great guides. Both guides were absolutely amazing and really gave us the best chance possible to see birds.

A wonderful tour with stunning birds, a great group of fellow travellers and a fabulous local guide.
