Overview

Our Budget Kenya tour highlights some of Africa’s most iconic and famous wildlife reserves. Our tour begins with an exploration of Mount Kenya, shrouded in montane forest – it is Africa’s second highest peak. Leaving the cool forests, we descend to the nutrient rich Lake Nakuru, with its inexhaustible numbers of Lesser Flamingo. We then traverse the dry woodlands of Lake Baringo, home to the Jackson’s Hornbill and Somali Sparrow, while the famous Kakamega forest adds a West African rain forest element with such highlights as Blue-headed Bee-eater and Yellow-bellied Wattle-eye being notable targets. From there, we head south towards the vast plains of what is arguably one of the most fabulous game reserves in the world, the justifiably famous Maasai Mara! This tour offers incomparable wildlife and birding in the space of just two weeks!

I was very pleased with the joint ABA Rockjumper tour of Tanzania and appreciate all your efforts to make the tour unexpectedly wonderful. I think I underestimated all that Africa has to offer someone who has never experienced the continent! Your employees, each and every one I had the pleasure of birding with, are to be complimented.

I really can’t think of a way this tour could have been improved.... The itinerary was wonderful, the accommodations lovely, and the birds fantastic. Greg de Klerk is one of my all-time favorite guides. He genuinely cares about his guests, and does his best to make sure they have a great experience. This was truly a trip I have dreamed of since I was a kid, and it certainly fulfilled my expectations.

We had an absolutely fabulous safari in Tanzania! The sights we saw were unbelievable – the giraffe standing at the edge of the road, the lion walking up to our vehicle and laying in our shadow, the dik-dik walking down the centre of the road toward us, the many leopards and cheetahs so close and of course, the wildebeest migration. So much more! Just unbelievable! Markus was a marvelous leader. He was so good with our granddaughters and could relate to them so well. He was a big help to me and made sure I saw some birds. It was a good combination of birds and animals. Everyone else enjoyed the birds, also. I could go on and on. Rockjumper has top-notch people. Thanks for all the help.

Our recently concluded tour of Tanzania/Kenya, led by Rainer, was perhaps the best overall tour I’ve ever been on. The birding was good, the mammals great, as were the accommodations and food. Everything about the tour was outstanding, including Rainer’s leadership. It was the second time I’ve been on tour with Rainer (Madagascar, 2008) and hope to do so again.... Cheers

Thank you Rockjumper for another fantastic trip! Each time I travel with you I am amazed at how smoothly things run, and I recognise the great effort by all of you to give us an incredible and worry-free expedition. Thank you for giving me some of the best memories of my life!
