Overview

Our very comprehensive, 18 day Paraguay birding & wildlife tour takes in all of Paraguay’s diverse habitats, ranging from Humid Chaco, Dry Chaco and Cerrado to the endemic and species-rich Atlantic Forest. High on our priority list are the “Chaco Big 6” - Quebracho Crested Tinamou, Chaco Owl, Crested Gallito, Black-bodied Woodpecker, Black-legged Seriema and Spot-winged Falconet, with other outstanding species including the globally endangered White-winged Nightjar, Helmeted Woodpecker, Strange-tailed and Cock-tailed Tyrants, plus a plethora of scarce seedeaters. Not only a great introduction to Neotropical birding, this tour also offers the best opportunity to clear up all those dips and difficult species from northern Argentina, southern Brazil and Bolivia. Aside from the multitude of birds, the mammal populations are staggering, with no less than 8 species of cat including Puma and Jaguar, all three South American peccaries, Lowland Tapir, Maned Wolf and a horde of deer, armadillos, monkeys and rodents.

The tour was very enjoyable and interesting. Doug McCulloch's knowledge of his subject was encyclopaedic, and was as keen as mustard to share it and find us lots of birds.

We felt that the trip was very well organised and efficient so we could spend as much time in the field as possible. Glen was a terrific guide - excellent birder as well as his concern that everyone was seeing the birds. Glen was very even in his manner at all times and with everyone.

Our tour was really exceptional, and our guide, Glen Valentine, was fabulous!!! Being in the jungle meant our views were narrowed, but Glen went out of his way to make sure everyone had a chance to see these exceptional birds.

I look forward to another RBT tour...you can never go on too many RBT tours.

I was really pleasantly surprised about every aspect of the Oman & UAE tour. Forrest Rowland did an outstanding job in every way and he has a great sense of humour. This tour exceeded my expectations. The pace was just right, accommodations and meals were of high quality, and Forrest did a great job of organizing details and making sure everything ran smoothly. He found the species that were sought and had expert knowledge of where the birds were likely to be found and when was the best time to try for them.
