Overview

Our new tour explores the famous and quintessential birding and wildlife reserves of northern Tanzania, Tarangire, Lake Manyara, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. The tour will focus on Tanzanian endemics and regional specials whilst having ample time to marvel at some of the highest concentrations of wildlife to be found anywhere on our planet, and all this amidst spectacular scenery in one of Africa's wildest, most stable and least spoilt destinations! Some of the many regional specials and endemic birds that will target on this tour are the beautiful Fischer’s and Yellow-collared Lovebirds, Ashy Starling, Grey-breasted Spurfowl and Rufous-tailed Weaver. With Mt. Kilimanjaro as a backdrop, we will search for the highly localized Beesley’s Lark, one the world’s rarest lark species with perhaps no more than 250 birds left! Our tour uses a superb standard of accommodation and comfortable safari vehicles with pop-up roof hatches to optimize viewing. This is an incredible and immensely rewarding birding safari is augmented by some of the most outstanding mammal viewing the world has to offer.

I really liked Wayne Jones, and he certainly knows his birds and is able to find them. It was a fantastic trip.

Know that we appreciate all that Rockjumper staff did to make this trip so wonderful and a life-altering experience. Overall the trip provided everything the brochure described - great trip as promised - birds and animals were plentiful and wonderful - looking forward to future opportunities to travel with the ABA and Rockjumper.

The trip was great. It was truly a feat by the Rockjumper folks to handle a group of that size. We had a great time, great birds and mammals, and met some wonderful people.

All in all, our safari was wonderful. We were impressed with the level of organisation and the professionalism of Rockjumper's staff. We trusted our guides and drivers to keep us safe. It was evident that they love and respect the land, the locals, and the wildlife and birds, and take their responsibilities to travellers seriously... We are recommending Rockjumper to friends and let them know how much we appreciate the integrity and competence evidenced there.

This was an excellent trip! The combination of multitudes of fabulous birds and mammals, along with the scenery and natural/cultural history aspects of the trip made it the best I have taken, to date. Wayne did a great job. I would definitely travel with him again.
