This exciting journey through the heart of southern Africa takes us to one of the continent’s most awe-inspiring natural wonders and two of its most wildlife-rich national parks. Centred around the mighty Zambezi River, our tour offers an immersive birding and nature experience through Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe’s Zambezi National Park, and Botswana’s renowned Chobe National Park. Each of these areas showcases its own mosaic of habitats and species, delivering an unforgettable blend of spectacular scenery, remarkable birds, and iconic African wildlife.

Victoria Falls, one of the Seven Natural Wonders of the World, provides a dramatic backdrop for birding, where rainforest-adapted species such as Schalow’s Turaco and Trumpeter Hornbill can be found amid the spray-drenched foliage. The Zambezi River below the falls is a lifeline to a host of sought-after birds, including Rock Pratincole, White-crowned Lapwing, and the localised Shelley’s Sunbird, with thrilling chances of African Finfoot and Half-collared Kingfisher along quieter stretches.

Venturing into Zambezi National Park, we explore a mosaic of riverine woodland, open plains, and mopane forest, home to specialities such as Racket-tailed Roller, Collared Palm Thrush, and Arnot’s Chat. This protected wilderness also supports good populations of large mammals, offering an evocative and wild birding setting.

Across the border in northern Botswana, Chobe National Park offers some of the finest birding and game viewing in Africa. Its floodplains and riverine habitats teem with birdlife, from the majestic African Fish Eagle and Pels Fishing Owl to the scarce Slaty Egret, Long-toed Lapwing, and Coppery-tailed Coucal. Herds of elephant, buffalo, and other game add to the spectacle, especially during an unforgettable boat safari on the Chobe River.

This focused itinerary offers not only outstanding birding and scenery but also a true taste of wild Africa—intimate, diverse, and incredibly rewarding.
