Our Cuba – Caribbean Endemics Birding tours target almost all 28 Cuban endemic birds and further 23 Caribbean specials, as well as great wintering North American migrants. Using the services of local bird specialists at each site, we guarantee an impressive success rate in observing the island’s amazing avian diversity. From the world’s tiniest bird (the Bee Hummingbird) to such sought-after species as Giant Kingbird, the cute Cuban Tody, the beautiful Cuban Trogon, Gundlach’s Hawk, Oriente and Yellow-headed Warbler, Zapata Wren and no less than four species of stunning quail-doves, Cuba is an absolute pleasure to bird. On this tour we will cover a wide variety of habitats, ranging from interior tropical forests and mangroves, to extensive wetlands and white sand beaches along the northern coral cays. The awesome birdlife is further augmented by ease of travel, comfortable lodges, fascinating culture, a turbulent history, vintage cars that take one back to the 50’s and friendly people.

What our clients say about tours to Cuba
This was our first Rockjumper trip and it was great. Forrest was an excellent guide, so knowledgeable about the birds and enthusiastic about all living things we came across!
I highly recommend Forrest Rowland as a remarkably talented birding guide with exceptional birding skills, knowledge and helpfulness to get everyone on the bird.
I just wanted to pass on our thanks for a well organised trip. We had a ball in Cuba! Not only were the birds fantastic but the cigars, rum and country were mind-blowing. Our first RJ trip but I am sure that it won’t be our last. Well done to the team for arranging a hassle-free trip in a country where it can be difficult to organise things.
This was an excellent trip. I couldn’t have written a better story. Our guide, Chris Sharpe was knowledgeable in birds and other scientific topics. He was very keen on details of our arrangements and itinerary, keeping our time productive and enjoyable. He had a very pleasant demeanour, was enthusiastic about the birds we were searching for, and was a good story teller, which helped make the whole experience a lot of fun.
I’d first like to compliment Chris Sharpe on being a superb guide! Chris really made the trip special. He’s very knowledgeable about the birds in Cuba and he assembled an excellent group of Cuban biologists, guides, and support staff. Chris struck that fine balance between making this an enjoyable trip while making sure we remained…
We had a great time birding with you. Thanks for working so hard making sure we saw all the target endemic and near-endemic birds. We very much enjoyed being around you because you have an upbeat and positive demeanour. Thanks for pointing out so many wintering warblers that we, on the west coast of US, do not get to see. Will always remember the Tody and the “G” Hawk.
Forrest Rowland is an all-around excellent birding guide. He handled our group of all abilities very well, and as first-time birders on a trip with Rockjumper, we were put at ease immediately by his easy going manner, friendliness and ability to assist us in seeing the birds of Cuba. It was an incredible experience all…
Forrest Rowland was the consummate birding tour guide. He was very personable and friendly and a top-notch birder with excellent skills for getting us on the birds. He kept us informed about all logistical details. We will seek him out for another Rockjumper tour.
Forrest was an absolute joy to bird with. I’ve been to 25 countries birding and this was one of, if not the best, birding tour I have ever had the pleasure of being on.
We were surprised to hear that this was Adam Walleyn’s first trip to Cuba as well as ours. He obviously prepared very well for the trip and clearly knew his birds. The local guides he used were very familiar with the birds and contributed both to the birding and culture of each region. Alejandro, the…
The more we got to know Chris as the tour progressed, the more fun we had. We found the birds and we did not neglect their enjoyment once we found them, and we also remembered to have fun with each other as well. We laughed a lot! The group chemistry was very good, and I…
Dušan Brinkhuizen made the trip so enjoyable. His birding expertise is impressive and he has such a friendly personality. Customer service is really important to him and he started every day asking us how we were doing and if there were any problems. When there were problems, he addressed them promptly. He made sure everyone…
Dušan was an extraordinary guide. His birding skills, humanity, and concern for all of us was beyond reproach.
Honestly, this was a tremendous experience! The tour was extremely well organised and balanced, the guide, Dušan Brinkhuizen, was excellent and very professional, and the local guides also impressed me. I look forward to travelling with Rockjumper again.
Dušan was great. He took charge of the group with enthusiasm. His birding skills are excellent. The office staff were super in responding to emails and answering questions. I have told my birding friends to consider Dušan and Rockjumper when they schedule their next trip.
A great trip all round. Birding was excellent and easier than in most other places I have visited, and the guide, Adam Walleyn, was superb. In between birding, we learned a lot about Cuban history and culture, which added another dimension to the tour and which I really enjoyed.
Adam Walleyn was a great guide and we had a lot of fun with him. The local guides also did a good job. We like Rockjumper and have signed up for two more trips this year.
This was an excellent tour. The itinerary was really good, the guides – both main and local – were all very good. I would have no hesitation being on another trip with Dušan Brinkhuizen, as he is an outstanding guide. It was all very well organised. Many thanks to all involved in organising the trip.
The tour was great. It exceeded our expectations. We got more than our money’s worth. Part of that was Dusan making everyone feel welcome. He was a great guide and worked really hard at locating Cuban Endemics for us. We also saw, surprisingly, many other North American Warblers. He was very friendly and didn’t mind being asked over and over, “which bird is that,” even though he had named the bird many times before. Talk about patience!
Chris Sharpe is at a higher level than most guides I have toured with. The result was that each participant openly stated that, from a group birding point of view, this was their best tour, including me, with 40 major tours under my belt.
I still find it hard to believe that we saw all 40 of my targets in Cuba – you led a great trip and it was great birding with you again.
Forrest Rowland is an outstanding guide! We would definitely travel with him again. Great guy!
