Rockjumper’s popular Namibia, Okavango & Victoria Falls Overland safari visits the major highlights of three of Africa’s most remarkable countries. This comprehensive tour combines the endemic birds of the Namib Desert with spectacular tropical savanna and wetland species. Spending time observing mammals will also be a major feature as we seek creatures ranging from elephant-shrews to elephants, as well as the fabled “Big 5”. We explore the rugged Khomas highlands around Windhoek, the desert plains of the Namib-Naukluft, Walvis Bay where thousands of flamingos and other waterbirds feast on the riches of the cold Atlantic Ocean, unrivalled game-viewing in Etosha National Park, the world famous Okavango Delta in Botswana, the floodplains of the Okavango and Zambezi River systems, ending in Livingstone where we marvel at one of the natural wonders of the world, the mighty Victoria Falls. Birding targets on this fabulous adventure include Slaty Egret, Wattled Crane, Ludwig’s Bustard, Rüppell’s Korhaan, Pel’s Fishing Owl (one of ten possible owls!), Rockrunner, White-tailed Shrike and an incredible diversity of larks.

What our clients say about tours to Namibia, Botswana & Zambia

  • This private tour, organised by Rockjumper, allowed us to visit some fantastic areas in the country. Our main focus was on birds, with Pel’s Fishing Owl and Shoebill high on our “would like to see” lists. We saw both of them really well, along with another 56 lifers. The Shoebill sighting will remain in our memories for many years, as we waded through the marsh to see both adults close to the nest, plus a well-grown youngster! The overall Bird List totalled some 320 species, along with 47 species of mammal. Highlights of the mammal sightings included an hour spent with a hunting Leopard, a couple of Lionesses with five cubs, a Cheetah with six cubs and sightings of four different Serval.

The pace of the tour was excellent and staying for three nights in a small number of sites gave us the opportunity to really explore the different habitats. The accommodation throughout was fantastic. David Hoddinott was a fantastic leader and was aptly supported by the local guides.

  • Greg de Klerk was very considerate of individual needs. He is also extremely knowledgeable about ornithology, wildlife, geology, local cultures and languages. A fountain of helpful information. I would certainly travel with Greg again, and would recommend him to others.

  • Sonya and I really appreciate all of your hard work….that truly was one of our trips of a lifetime.  And that is saying something since that bar is constantly getting raised by all of our travel.  Rockjumper can definitely count us in as repeat guests and I would count it as good fortune if you were our guide again.

  • Wayne Jones is without a doubt one of the best guides I’ve ever been with.  His ability to identify birds “on the wing” is unequaled.

    LF, NBZ III 2015
  • Glen was very organised and knowledgeable. He gave clear directions as to what we would be doing the following day. He has a very calm and friendly manner. He has extremely good hearing and the ability to both hear the birds and point them out. He was very helpful to assist me when I did not see where the bird was. I would certainly like to travel with him again.

  • Greg is an excellent birder and worked hard to find as many species as possible, and also to make sure that everyone saw them. He was very genial company and took great care of everyone.

  • Andre Bernon was a great leader, with great vision and bird finding skills. He also had excellent people skills, both with the participants and the various third parties that we dealt with. He maintained good humour and an even disposition throughout.

  • This [Budget Namibia Birding] trip was a wonderful and unique experience for me.  I was pleased with everything about it and also was pleased with myself for having met the challenge of camping and hiking and living out of a tent (most of the nights).  It’s not something I’ve done for quite some years.  I actually felt renewed and revitalized when it was over.  Thanks to everyone for an experience of a lifetime for me!
