Learn MoreOur small group was quite varied in trip expectations and needs. Ryan awesomely addressed each. Thank you. The drivers and locals that helped were very qualified and helpful. We loved Lester and what his family has accomplished to keep Caroni swamp a sanctuary. The dinner 🍲 while watching scarlet ibis was amazing. We like experiencing local food and restaurants. Josh and his family with many hummingbird feeders providing with such a special lunch was a cherished experience. Thank you Rockjumper and Trinidad gang for making our trip special!!$)
I really enjoyed the trip and Lev was great. Since this is the first relaxed program, here are my thoughts: The pace was good and the places we went were productive (from a birding perspective). Getting up and moving earlier would have been fine and evening owling would have been good. Considering the stinking heat, I really appreciated not having long hikes. A friend came on the regular trip and said it was quite a difficult trip -- I was willing to give up some birds for a less strenuous trip.
This was my first tour with Rob Williams, and it was a great experience. He is a great spotter, knows the birds by ear, and so easy to be with. Also, he is interested and knowledgeable about so many things that the conversation in the car never got dull. Also, he deferred to Kalle the local guide about locations and seemed to collaborate with him easily about daily schedules. I liked all of the hotels on this trip, and the food was very good. The 3am early morning starts were hard, but worth it. I wouldn’t have wanted to miss anything.
This was a thoroughly enjoyable tour with many good birds, mammals, herps and other creatures and natural history. Our leader Paul Varney, in tandem with our local guide Uthai, was tremendous in finding and identifying the birds and wildlife and we learned a lot about Thailand in the process. We will recommend this tour.
I really enjoyed Rob as a leader. He was very congenial and always cheerful in addition to being extremely knowledgeable about the birds we hoped to see and their behaviour. I particularly enjoyed the conservation background and science insights he provided about specific species and South American birding in general. He has a wealth of knowledge that he is happy to share. In terms of the tour itself, it was excellent and everything ran smoothly. The local guide, Arthur, was truly excellent. The accommodation and food were excellent.
Our trip to Mongolia was special in so many ways. Of course, the highlights were seeing a Pallas’s Cat and no fewer than seven Snow Leopards in two separate sightings. But the adventure offered so much more - we enjoyed seeing more than 150 bird species, along with many other mammals, beautiful desert flowers, and incredible landscapes. Lev was a kind and capable guide, always keen to make sure we all had a good look. And our local guide, Yumchin, was a real gem - a master of logistics and an excellent interpreter of Mongolian culture and wildlife. We especially enjoyed staying in traditional ger camps and sampling typical Mongolian foods, including camel milk! This was truly an unforgettable adventure.
