Fátima studied Biology at Benito Juárez Autonomous University of Oaxaca, and while conducting her studies founded the bird observation club “Aves de Oaxaca”. She is the state coordinator of the Urban Bird Program by CONABIO (Commission for the Knowledge and Use of Biodiversity) in Oaxaca. She has worked as an environmental educator for more than six years, conducting activities with children and youth. She is part of the committee of the Oaxaca Bird Festival which has been promoting knowledge of avifauna and avitourism in the state for six years.
