
Nacho Barrionuevo was born and raised in Andalusia, southern Spain, where his interest in birds became a lifelong passion following an inspiring encounter with a bird guide.

He studied Biology at university and conducted research on forest bird communities in the mountain ranges of southern Spain before working on wildlife monitoring programs and contributing to several national bird surveys. Deeply connected to his home province of Málaga, he has co-authored and reviewed several bird guides dedicated to the region and serves as a local eBird reviewer. An avid birder and naturalist, Nacho enjoys exploring new places and sharing his enthusiasm for wildlife with others. Since 2024, he has led birding tours throughout mainland Spain, the Canary Islands, Madeira, the Azores, Morocco, Western Sahara, and the Netherlands.
