For the truly adventurous, our extension to Apolo offers the spectacular Palkachupa Cotinga and recently described Inti Tanager. Palkachupa Cotinga was rediscovered in the Apolo Valley as recently as 2000, yet few people have heard of this species, never mind seen it! With some luck, we may also find a handful of other rarely-seen and difficult-to-find species such as Green-capped Tanager, Yungas Antwren, Chestnut-crested Cotinga, Western Striolated Puffbird, Pavonine Cuckoo and Military Macaw.

Tour Pace & Walking moderate, very poor roads with long drives. Our Mega tours are very fast-paced birding adventures designed for the dedicated lister and serious birder. The focus of the tour is to see as many of the endemics and area specials as possible in our given time. In order to cover the necessary route to maximise the species list we tend to spend a single night at most sites and travel large distances. There is very little down time aside from that spent driving from one site to the next. These tours are not suitable for dedicated or avid photographers; inexperienced or new birders; as well as anyone with serious mobility or health challenges.
Accommodation basic
Ease of Birding moderate with some tricky species
Photographic Opportunities good
The tour was wonderful and I feel Dusan did a great job balancing the needs of the people on this tour who varied in birding expertise and listing/photography interests. Being the one with the least birding experience, I appreciated the time he took to make sure that we all had good views of the most important birds and making sure that we all felt an equal and valued part of the adventure."
Bolivia is a rougher country, Rockjumpers accommodations were as good as could be expected. Ground agent did an excellent job, the lunches were nice! Dusan is an outstanding birder, with a wonderful personality.
Dusan is an excellent birder and did a great job balancing the desires of all participants.
