This exciting extension explores the remote waterways of the Francisco Coloane Marine Park in the heart of the Strait of Magellan. Spending three nights aboard the comfortable M/V Estoa, we will navigate through a spectacular landscape of rugged islands, snow-capped mountains and pristine Patagonian channels during the height of the austral summer. A major focus of the voyage is the elusive and highly sought-after Fuegian Snipe, one of southern South America's most enigmatic bird species. The region's nutrient-rich waters also support an important seasonal concentration of Humpback Whales, with chances for Sei Whale, Peale's Dolphin, South American Sea Lion and South American Fur Seal are frequent. Birding is further enhanced by regular sightings of Black-browed Albatross, Southern Giant Petrel, Imperial Cormorant, Rock Shag, Flightless Steamer Duck and other characteristic Patagonian seabirds. Combining the search for one of the continent's premier birding targets with exceptional marine mammal viewing and breathtaking scenery, this voyage offers an unforgettable exploration of one of Patagonia's last great wilderness areas.

What our clients say about us

Amanda Guercio
CH, Chile & Argentina - Birds & Wine 2026

I loved this trip! We had great success seeing most of the target birds plus many more. Most of the wineries gave great tours and tastings. Our group gelled nicely together. Jürgen, Amanda and Flavio helped us find, identify and get on the birds. Rodolfo was an excellent driver and went above and beyond to help us and make us all comfortable in the van. I would recommend this trip to others.

Adam Walleyn
Chile 2015

I could not have been happier with our guides Adam is a terrific birder, good at getting the participants views of the birds, and a lot of fun to travel with.

Dušan Brinkhuizen
BS & VS, Chile 2017

Chile with Dušan and Rockjumper exceeded our expectations. What a wonderful experience Chile was for birding. Dušan really worked hard at finding the birds for the group. A very satisfying tour! Looking forward to our next trip with RBT.

Amanda Guercio
JS, Chile & Argentina - Birds & Wine 2026

Both Amanda and our local guide, Juergen, were fantastic! Incredibly knowledgeable about the birds of the area and exceptional spotters. They insured that everyone in our party got a look at the target birds - even non-birder me! In addition, they ran the tour with clockwork precision while keeping things relaxed and pleasurable. Fantastic trip!
