Overview

Ghana is a West African destination like no other: it is a politically stable, English-speaking nation that is acknowledged as the friendliest country in the region. It is also one of the safest countries in which the Upper Guinea forest block, an internationally recognised Endemic Bird Area, can be accessed, and our birding tour of Ghana allows for a thorough exploration of the most exciting West African birding habitats. From Guinea savanna to lush rainforest, we will see much of what Ghana has to offer, promising a truly impressive bird tally and a thoroughly enjoyable experience. Our days in this wonderful country will be spent ambling forested trails, scanning for canopy species from a fabulous walkway, and exploring vast tracts of deciduous woodland. Typical African families such as turacos, barbets, sunbirds and greenbuls are particularly well represented, yielding a colourful and interesting bounty of species. Furthermore, we also have the opportunity to see one of Africa’s most highly sought-after birds – the fabled White-necked Rockfowl!

The tour was excellent and exceeded all my expectations. Andre was excellent and good fun.

Congratulations to our guides (Tuomas Seimola and Victor) who were simply excellent. Tuomas was always helpful and smiling. In addition to knowing all of the birds he did a great job of communicating the information.

Andre proved to be an excellent lead guide and was very well supported by Mark. They had a very good knowledge of the birds of Ghana and knew where to look for them and how to locate them. They got on well and provided us with excellent company. We were very pleased with our bird list, with many rare and highly desirable species. The Picathartes was the major reason we went to Ghana and was, for us, the highlight of the trip and the views were superb.

We have just returned from our Ghana trip and I would like to report that we both had an amazing time. Everything went very smoothly and I would like to express our thanks to both our local guide and driver for their patience, dedication and enthusiasm. They worked tirelessly and with a lot of patience to accommodate us in what we were trying find and film with the result that we captured some amazing wildlife shots including a lot of the rarer birds and a vast array of butterflies, bugs, orchids ect. I would without doubt recommend this trip especially with these two at the helm.

Mr. Nigel Redman's knowledge of the birds, mammals, and other wildlife was extraordinary. His enthusiasm was contagious, and his pleasant demeanor was a joy to be around. He also was great at looking after the participants' "creature" comforts. I would consider it a privilege to travel someday again with him.
