Our Buru Extension explores a beautifully forested island hosting up to 24 avian endemics including the little known Madanga!!! Other quality species include Buru Green Pigeon, Buru Mountain Pigeon, superb Buru Racket-tail, South Moluccan Pitta, Hantu (Buru) Boobook, Moluccan Masked Owl, Black-tipped and White-naped Monarchs, Buru Cuckooshrike, Buru White-eye, Buru Honeyeater, Flame-breasted Flowerpecker, Buru Thrush and Tawny-backed Fantail among many others, and if we are very fortunate we may even find a supreme rarity as the reputedly nocturnal Black-lored Parrot!

The tour was wonderful, even though I had some physical/health issues on the trip. The guides were great, with a special shout out to Rohman and Albert, plus the great food by Annie. I have been on birding trips for many years, but this is the first time with Rockjumper. The trip was easily the best birding trip I have ever been on. In particular, both David and Glen made life so easy and their birding knowledge was remarkable. Other members of the group were very easy to get on with. The birding was quite remarkable and it is difficult to pick out a highlight from the Birds of Paradise, the Chinese Crested Tern or the Madanga. There is no doubt that I will travel with Rockjumper again.

The Sulawesi tour was outstanding in every way. Glen is an outstanding conscientious guide leader looking out for the needs of each tour participant. He worked very hard to get all of us on the key birds of the tour. The local agent Roman, (sic), was excellent at keeping all the logistics set. And he's a very goid birder in his own right. The local guides were phenomenal, particularly at locating owls at night. The food was delicious, particularly Annie's crepes. And the hotels were all as advertised. No surprises good or bad there. Birding Indonesia is challenging because bird density is low. People like Glen make the birds that are there are seen. Excellent tour.
