Our popular Namibia, Okavango & Victoria Falls overland safari is a birding and wildlife tour that visits some of the major highlights of three of Africa’s most remarkable countries, all offering vast areas of pristine wilderness. Birdlife abounds and we target an impressive array of localized as well as more widespread African species, including such sought-after specials as Slaty Egret, Wattled Crane, Ludwig’s Bustard, Rüppell’s Korhaan, Secretarybird, Pel’s Fishing Owl (one of ten possible owls!), Hartlaub’s Spurfowl, the huge Coppery-tailed Coucal, Rüppell’s Parrot, Monteiro’s Hornbill, Rockrunner, Violet Wood Hoopoe, Bare-cheeked and Black-faced Babblers, Rosy-faced Lovebird, White-tailed Shrike, Herero Chat, Dune and Gray’s Larks, Violet-eared Waxbill – and so much more besides!

What's more, spending quality time observing mammals, large and small, will be a major focus of this trip and we should see creatures ranging from Elephant-Shrews to Elephants, Fur Seals to Hippopotamus, plus an exciting range of charismatic African big game including the fabled ’Big 5’ (Lion, Leopard, Rhino, Buffalo and Elephant).

What our clients say about us

Daniel Danckwerts
SM - NBZ 2019

Daniel is enthusiastic and knowledgeable, always with a cheerful smile. The vehicle was as comfortable as possible for group travel and his thoughtfulness about bringing a little stepstool made it all the more better for us short people! He handled glitches efficiently and still cheerfully

Gregory de Klerk
MM & EM, Namibia

Greg is an excellent guide with great people skills. We appreciated him very much.

Heinz Ortmann
PO - Namibia, Botswana & Zimbabwe

The tour was fabulous and Heinz is a great guide. Our van was good with the "pop up" roof. The lodges we stayed at were very nice with good food. We even had a chance to try some wild game.

Quinton Paul Josop
JM, Namibia 2023

This was probably the best Rockjumper tour I have ever been on. I cannot praise our leader, Paul, highly enough. His enthusiasm for the birds was contagious and he made birding fun which is what its supposed to be. This was his first tour to this area and even though he got several lifers, I thought he was brilliant. Incredible at spotting and although my eyes are not what they used to be I came back with many wonderful photos and memories. We were Americans and one Canadian and we keep our records on eBird. Paul didnt have to do it, but he provided several eBird lists for each day of the tour and shared them with us. This made the trip for me. We dispensed with the checklist summaries that often take up so much time at the end of the day on other trips. Instead we got all the information we needed via eBird. My wife suffered a fall on the first day which took her to the emergency room. Paul was superb at providing first aid and taking care of her injuries as a "first responder" and continued to offer aid and comfort during the rest of the tour. He was also our driver and even though he had not been to all the places, he did a great job finding birding locations and maximizing our birding opportunities. Paul made a personal connections with everybody on the tour without playing favorites. It was a long tour but he kept the camaraderie going the whole time. Rockjumper is lucky to have him.

Gregory de Klerk
CV - Namibia, Botswana & Zimbabwe 2022

I booked this tour in 2019, Tour was canceled twice but it was worth the wait. Such an enjoyable group to be traveling with. Greg De Klerk is a wealth of knowledge about all the flora and fauna of this part of Africa. We started with the might and beauty of Victoria Falls and the beauty of these three countries just kept unfolding as we went. Not only did we see so many birds and animals we also learned exciting things about each of those animals and birds. All done with Greg's great sense of humour. He took the time to see that each guest was personally looked after, I would travel with him again. Accommodations were excellent. Food abundant and superb. It was a great trip.
