Our tour explores the famous and quintessential birding and wildlife reserves of northern Tanzania, Tarangire, the Serengeti and Ngorongoro Crater. The tour will focus on Tanzanian endemics and regional specials whilst having ample time to marvel at some of the highest concentrations of wildlife to be found anywhere on our planet, and all this amidst spectacular scenery in one of Africa's wildest, most stable and least spoilt destinations. Some of the many regional specials and endemic birds that we will target on this tour are the beautiful Fischer’s and Yellow-collared Lovebirds, Ashy Starling, Grey-breasted Spurfowl and Rufous-tailed Weaver. With Mt. Kilimanjaro as a backdrop, we will search for the highly localized Beesley’s Lark, one the world’s rarest lark species with perhaps no more than 250 birds left. Our tour uses a good standard of accommodation and comfortable safari vehicles with pop-up roof hatches to optimize viewing. This incredible and immensely rewarding birding safari is augmented by some of the most outstanding mammal viewing the world has to offer.

What our clients say about us

Paul Varney
RS, Tanzania - Highlights 2025

This was an outstanding tour. Paul Varney is a superb guide -he was super-friendly, made sure all of us could see the birds to the extent possible, and was very well organized. I would travel with him as a guide any time! The selection of sites to visit was perfect - a nice variety of habitats and wildlife. I very much enjoyed the visit to the Olduvai Gorge. At Tarangiri we took an optional night game drive, which was fantastic - there we saw an aardvark, a really rare sighting. I would definitely recommend that this be added to the itinerary. The lodgings were fine - all were clean and well- appointed. The meals on offer were somewhat disappointing, though, as nearly all of them served the same types of food - creamed soups, stews, potatoes & rice. The packed lunches were very good, though. All in all this was an absolutely wonderful trip!

Quinton Paul Josop
GK - Kenya & Tanzania 2024

The guide , Paul Josop was excellent and his identification and spotting skills were unparalleled. He repeated the bird names frequently when asked and was very enthusiastic about everything he pointed out to the group. He always took care of the group and was very patient and enjoyable to be around. He has excellent knowledge of the areas we visited. The two drivers that helped in Tanzania and Kenya were both knowledgeable and friendly and assisted Paul well. We saw very abundant wildlife in all the parks we visited and exceeded expectations in most areas . The accommodations were also very good . Food was excellent throughout.

Gregory de Klerk
JB, SB & CB, Tanzania 2018

We very much enjoyed our East Africa experience, finding it to be the adventure we dreamed it would be. With Greg de Klerk as our excellent and informative guide and the incredible wildlife, the tour exceeded our expectations. Greg took care of us all throughout the tour and was extremely patient and considerate to make certain that all were able to find the birds we were seeking. We had a group with different levels of birding experience and Greg worked so well with all. Thanks to all who made this wonderful experience happen for us.

David Hoddinott
AS, Tanzania 2023

I really enjoyed the tour. It was hard work at the beginning with the walking and the birds difficult to see in the forest.

André Bernon
EG, Tanzania - Mega Birding Tour 2025

This was a very enjoyable, well organized and well led trip. The toughest part, hiking and camping in the Udzungwa Mountains, was the funnest part.
