Our Relaxed Thailand Highlights tour is designed around the very best birding sites in Northern and Central Thailand, offering a superb selection of spectacular and sought-after Southeast Asian specials, along with a huge array of migrants from the north, which spend the frigid winters in these warmer climates. Time will be spent exploring the wetlands near Bangkok where we stand excellent chances of finding the critically endangered Spoon-billed Sandpiper, Nordmann’s Greenshank and Chinese Egret. Major reserves visited include Kaeng Krachan, Khao Yai and Doi Lang where targets include the stunning Green Peafowl, Siamese Fireback, gorgeous Silver-breasted Broadbill, Ratchet-tailed Treepie, Scarlet-faced Liocichla, Green Cochoa – and much more! In addition, culturally Thailand has few equals, and you will have opportunities to visit some of the many spectacular pagodas and shrines that adorn this friendly, varied and spectacular land.

UNDEMANDING: This tour is ideal for birders and wildlife enthusiasts of all experience levels. It’s suitable for most mobility levels and offers a relaxed pace, ensuring an enjoyable experience for everyone.
Undemanding. Suitable for all birding / wildlife interest levels.
Comfortable.
Moderate. Many species provide visuals in open conditions but get trickier within forested environments. Flocks can be fast moving & high in the canopy. ID challenges amongst lots of waders & Phyllosc
pagodas and temples, great food, rainforests, friendly people
Good to very good, depending on habitat.
good group, good leaders
This was a great tour! Glen is so gifted at finding and hearing birds, and remembers for weeks if someone missed a bird to help them see it the next time. He is also such a nice and positve person in general. The local guide Uthai was a little curt at times, but so knowledgeable and endearing by the end of the trip. He always ordered food in advance so we ate as soon as we got to the restaurants, and the food was excellent. The trip does have a couple long 14-hour days when we did night-birding before returning to the hotel. My suggestion to Glen was to take a short break after lunch in the vans for a nap or a rest when there is a midday lull in the birds. I am hoping to do a future tour with Glen as a guide! Thank you.
"This was my first Rockjumper trip and I have never before done an extended birding bird out of Australia. I have nothing but praise for the whole operation. Our local guide & Forrest were fantastic and are both to be commended for their knowledge, expertise, patience & energy. Was wonderful having 2 experts with us."
Both the Rockjumper guide, Andre Bernon, and the local guide, Uthai Treesucon, were excellent. They were superior at identifying birds by sight and sound and at getting everyone to see them. Both were very patient. I appreciated that we birded from dawn to dusk most days. They took care of us very well including trips to the pharmacy when needed. Uthai ordered the meals in advance so that we did not waste a lot of time looking at menus and we had the opportunity to try many different dishes. Our meals were generally ready as soon as we arrived at the restaurants/lodges. The vans were very comfortable and the drivers were kind and helpful. Jiang and Lif prepared tea/coffee and snacks from the back of the van and set out lawn chairs for us midmorning every day. They also prepared a you-tube video of our trip that I really appreciated. The only improvement that I would suggest is to try to schedule visits to the major national parks, like Doi Inthanon for example, during the week and to avoid arriving there on weekends or holidays. The parks were crowded and the traffic was bad when we were there.
This was my first ever birding tour, so my expectations were not based on any previous experience. I found the birding aspect to be stellar, with many new species added to my life list. The tour leader and the tour guide were both superb. Transportation was very comfortable in vans with captain's chairs.
