The Maldives is an island nation nestled in the tropical waters of the central Indian Ocean, some 400 miles south-west of the southern tip of India. This tiny, idyllic Republic is composed entirely of coral atolls on which a staggering 1,200 sandy islands nestle. These are the picture postcard islands of your dreams, furnished with a tropical décor of swaying palms, white sand beaches and turquoise lagoons.

Although much-praised as a tourist destination, these exquisite islands are less well-known for the bounty of whale and dolphin species that swim these warm tropical waters.

On your days with us, you can expect some of the finest cetacean viewing on the planet; in the last two seasons our lead guide, a well-known authority on cetaceans, has seen an astounding 18 different species. Whilst keeping an eye out for tropical seabirds, we will scan the waters for such delights as Spinner and Risso's Dolphins, Sperm Whales and the gargantuan Blue Whale, the largest animal ever to have lived on the planet! This wealth of cetacean species is complimented by a variety of tropical pelagic birds, and we will spend our days scanning for Black-naped Tern, Bulwer's Petrel, Flesh-footed Shearwater and White-bellied Storm Petrel, to name a few.

As a distraction from the joys aboard our charming boat, we will take the time to stroll upon the bleached shores of some of the quaint islands and snorkel the teeming waters replete with a treasure chest of tropical fish. This is an unforgettable adventure, and we invite you to join us on this magical ocean and wildlife experience!

What our clients say about us

Robert Wilcox
ED, Guatemala - Specialities of Central America 2026

This tour group was very eclectic but really worked well together. The leaders including the van driver did an exceptional job.

Dušan Brinkhuizen
JH, Jamaica - Island Endemics I 2026

Great trip

André Bernon
CM, Thailand - Southern Extension II 2025

While the birding was more difficult, the guides knowledge on where to search for some of the key species. Helped the group find a number of very interesting species of birds.

Dušan Brinkhuizen
CC, Puerto Rico - Forgotten Greater Antilles 2026

We saw all 19 endemics as well as all of those where splits may be likely in the future. Dušan is a tireless guide. Never gives up for the best view. Our local guide, Alcides, has astonishing eyes and ears and knows every inch of his island! Cannot imagine a better local guide. Also, wish to put in a good word for our driver to and from the airport, Carlos. Please keep Carlos on board. Great trip. My shortest birding trip and, I learned, too short for me—could have stayed longer.

Quinton Paul Josop
SA, Sri Lanka - Endemic Birds & Big Game (Small Group) 2026

Paul brought in his wealth of experience. He worked well with Ashoka to make sure nothing was lost in translation. One member sustained an injury on day 1, probably because he declined the extra help offered on a slightly slippery walk. Paul and Ashoka took charge of the situation immediately, made sure the rest of the group was comfortable while getting help. It was incredible that the injured person managed to complete the trip with a walker. Ashoka is a highly experienced local guide. He went out of the way to accommodate our birding and non-birding (request to try local food) requests. Both Paul and Ashoka were always calm and very pleasant, paying individual attention to every person and ensured we had a memorable experience.
