The Cape Verde archipelago consists of ten larger islands, that are definitely well off the beaten track. We will be some of few birders ever to venture here. Up to fourteen species are considered endemic to Cape Verde and these include some of the world’s rarest birds. We will see the entire world population of less than 30 Bourne’s Herons and other endemics include Alexander’s- and Neglected Kestrel, Bannerman’s Buzzard, Raso Lark, Cape Verde Warbler and Iago Sparrow. We will visit some impressive seabird colonies and hope to see Cape Verde- and Little Shearwater, Fea’s Petrel, White-faced Storm Petrel and the only Magnificent Frigatebirds in the Western Hemisphere.
