Paraguay is a seldom-visited birding and wildlife wonderland, and our Paraguay – Birds & Wildlife tour explores all the major hotspots and habitat types. These range from Chaco woodlands, scrub and waterholes where we will search for Spot-winged Falconet, Chaco Chachalaca, Cream-backed and Black-bodied Woodpeckers, Scimitar-billed Woodcreeper, Chaco Earthcreeper, Many-colored Chaco Finch, Olive-crowned Crescentchest and Quebracho Crested Tinamou, to name just some of the possibilities. We will also spend time in the pampas, savannahs and expansive grasslands in search of such specials as the incredibly range-restricted White-winged Nightjar, Giant Snipe, Cock-tailed Tyrant, Sickle-winged Nightjar, Sharp-tailed Grass, Cock-tailed and Cinereous Tyrants, Bearded Tachuri, Black-legged Seriema and a host of seedeaters and seedfinches. We will even search the wonderful Atlantic Rainforest patches for more including Black-fronted Piping Guan, Saffron Toucanet, Helmeted Woodpecker, Russet-winged Spadebill, Tufted Antshrike and many other colourful forest species. While the array of birds is impressive to say the least, the wildlife on this tour will also be outstanding, with opportunities for Lowland Tapir, Greater Hairy Armadillo, Jaguar, Puma and Geoffroy's Cat, Chaco Peccary, Maned Wolf, Giant Anteater, a host of armadillos, monkeys and remarkable rodents, and you'll probably double your Neotropical mammal list in a single trip here!
